Wearing Today and Lucy Update

Here's today's outfit. The halter is an ATL top from last summer. The pants are the linen-cotton seaside pants to which I added the darts yesterday. They worked quite well today, so I can't wait to try the harbour oxford capris again (since I added the darts *after* wearing them yesterday). Finished off with gold hoops and brown sandals.

Love this top (it was my 4th of July top last year and it's another bra-not-necessarily-required, so perfect for hot weather, although I am well aware that it would look better with a little, ahem, support) but the knot at the back of the neck makes my neck ache after a while...so I just retied the straps in a bow at the front of the top and wore it strapless. Of course, I didn't do this until after the morning errands...which was an outing to Petco with the kiddies...and Lucy. Miss 4-cups-a-day needed more kibble. And the cleaning ladies were here, so Lucy came along. And um yeah, 41-pound puppy who loves everybody and everything...the top definitely needed some reinforcement...strapless came later.

Cutie-pie Lucy pic...

Awww, how adorable... Up close it is...Until you see the collateral damage. Ever seen irises growing sideways?

No Lucy, it's a FLOWER bed, not a DOG bed. To offset that visual, here's another pic. (She's ready for her closeup.)

Lucy is so adorable! and growing! at what point does she stop? 41lbs and not even a year old? LOVE the outfit -- I'm amazed you're daring enough to wear white pants with a dog around at all, let alone be able to keep them clean all day! what a feat. :)

that top looks really cute on you! You're all relaxed and summery, despite sideways flowers!

Lucy is super cute, maybe not great that she lays in the flower bed but at least she looks cute while she's doing it. I seriously laughed when you said you needed the halter strap when Lucy was around... hehe.

Really love the halter top, it's cute and looks fabulous on you.

RatsOnParade - funny you ask that, I actually googled "when are puppies full grown" the other day. Lucy should (according to the breeder and vet) get to be about 60-65 pounds. And the dog is all leg, too. The pants are actually stone, but you know what? They're washable and that's what counts...and I won't do light pants if it's raining...and I won't do them at all if they aren't washable. I did wear a black knit dress when we picked her up from the kennel since I knew she would be molting, so that was a dog hair issue, not a dirty paw issue.

jcbellemarie - thank you! I have just given up on trying to save the garden and figure when Lucy is close to full-grown I will re-figure it out - and probably phase out some of the perennials for shrubbery.

Summerilla - thank you! and yes, she does look cute even when she's bad - those eyes always gets me, and when that big pink tongue is lolling out of the side of her mouth, she almost looks like she's smiling.

Love the outfit! Looks so nautical, hehe. I miss living on the east coast! I feel like I can't get away with the ocean-inspired cuteness out here!

Our Daisy is forever getting yelled at by Husband for running through the flowers. The other day I heard a strange noise outside and looked out and she was running around with a plastic flower pot in her mouth. She does do this so I didn't even think about where she got it. Later Husband came home and said he was missing a tomato plant. Daisy had dumped the tomato plant to play with the pot. Husband was a bit angry!

Love your outfit today!

That's a cute picture of you--the pose is adorable! So funny to see this striped style top on you cuz I just found a "Limited" top in blue and black stripes that is very similar to the one you are wearing. I got this about 6 years ago...and I'm hoping to wear it before the summer is out! Now you've inspired me to REALLY wear it soon cuz yours looks sooo gooood!

Hi Heidi! Your Lucy is adorable! We have some sideways flower beds too! hahaha I really love your outfit - that top is perfect. The college tour in Williamsburg/outlet shopping was HOT! We did visit the crewlet there and found some great things. Will post about them later tonight.

Petunia - thank you!

Dina - thank you! Sunday will be so much fun - looking forward to it!!

Julia - thank you - I would probably just be the nautical freak if I lived away from the East Coast b/c I do love the look so!

Kathy - haha! Lucy had a fondness for plastic items in the back yard as well, she has chewed through several sand toys - rakes, shovels, etc - the big 3 ft ones, not the little ones.

luvallthingsjcrew - thank you! well, you are trying to SYC, so I look forward to seeing the Ltd top!

Lissa - hahaha, no kidding!!

Suzy - can't wait to see what you post! (dinner in the oven, reaind comes later tonight) and oh yeah, it's gets so hot in the Burg in summer - I remember it well.

I LOVE Lucy!! I am also impressed with as you call it, the no bra necessary tops. After 2 kids, I always need a bra...with underwire! You are sooo lucky.

monogramgirl - it's a nice compensation for not always filling out tops. :)
