Time to Breathe

I am sitting here with a lovely tall white wine spritzer, watching Devil Wears Prada (again). I never tire of that movie. I can just stare at the clothes all night long. And hubby's out playing poker, so it's a great girlie night movie. I have earned my chilling out because we just had E's birthday party here this evening. Lots of fun - an almost sleepover from 5:30-9:30. The girls had a lot of fun, but I am wiped. (Just so you know, hubby didn't leave for poker until after the party, though.) I am now unwinding.

But wow, those clothes make me look so boring...but that's ok, because these suit my lifestyle better. But watching does remind me that I do need to keep the bangs on - they've been growing a bit longer and I was considering leaving them a bit longer through the beach (1st week of August). But they really look much better across the brow than swept to the side, I think. Take a look at the latest pics to see. (Fortunately, I have a hair cut on Tuesday, so I just have to deal with them for a few more days.)

Friday - Kids at camp. Met a few friends at Starbucks after drop off. E had her recital at the end of dance camp. What fun!!

This is one of my fave ATL dresses - from last summer. So comfy, always cute (at least I think so). Easy for a hot summer day. Not much more to say about the outfit, though. Better than sweats?

Polyvore from Friday:

Today was a busy, busy day as we were getting ready for the birthday party. The house is actually in order - and the basement is not totally trashed.

Since I'm the mom/host, I needed something easy and comfy, that worked standing, sitting, etc. ATL tiered skirt and the J Crew chiffon rose tee. And I realized I haven't really been wearing the chiffon rose tee much, so clearly that needs to change. It's such a cute tee, it needs more exposure. I'll have to fix that.

Finish off with Danielle sandals, braided rope rose gold bracelet, Dina hoops. Honestly, I was dying to wear the clementine pearl garden bracelet today, but given the crafts for the party, I thought a slightly smaller scale bracelet would work better.

And I finally met a crazy nail polish that I can't stand. Last fall's OPI Parlez-Vous OPI. I saw this on friends last fall and really liked it but figured it wouldn't work so well on my skin tone. Sephora by OPI's Metro Chic was much better on me. Well, I should have listened to myself because I put on Parlez-Vous OPI last night and it was awful on me.

See? Not good at all. I think it's actually too red for my yellow-y skin tone. I couldn't wait for the party to be over so I could put on a new color tonight. Barielle - Misbehavin' Mistress - so much better.

And in other fun news, my blog was featured on the Polyvore blog again in their Polyvore Love Letters - Blog Roundup post. (mine is the 5th down.) I am amazed and thrilled. It was my post on Day Dresses. So yay! What a treat to see that. Thank you, Polyvore!

White Rosette Tee - Live and in Polyvore.

First of all, I would like to thank J'Adore These Stores since I won the Monday giveaway of Gap's new scent, Close. Needless to say, I am very excited!! I don't like most perfumes - especially really heavy ones, so a "salty floral citrus" sounds perfect for me!! Thank you, JTS!!

On to today...Finally wore the J Crew Rosette Tee in white. So here is my first Polyvore with the rosette tee:

And here is the IRL pic. It's ok as an outfit. (and no idea what's going on at the waistband on my right side - maybe the cardi was stuck to the tee?) I would have liked, hmmm, let's see...darker khakis, or rolled/cuffed khakis, or dark jeans, or white jeans. Somehow the long light khakis just felt a little too bland to me with the light Jackie. Maybe the jewelry didn't have enough oomph.

In any case, I wasn't feeling it so much today. And didn't have much time to correct it as the dentist's office called and I totally spaced on my 10 am appointment today so I had to run out and couldn't worry about it any longer.

Loved the white rosette tee though. I already laundered it and it came out just fine (turned inside out on delicate cycle).

What would you have done to doctor this outfit? Or would you just put it out of its misery? Please share...

I did hit J Crew today (1st time since the Mickey card expired), so I'll be posting on that soon. Have to do my award post (thank you, GingerSnap, for the Queen of ALLL Things Awe-Summm Award...I'll get to it, I promise!). Catch you all later in the blogosphere!

Wearing Today - J Crew Stripes & Dots

I started the day in a lightweight cardi and jeans, and was roasting by the time I finished walking the puppy after the bus stop this morning. Clearly I had to change...and to what. Well, first of all, let me tell you about the blue hangers. When I did my big closet clean out 2 months ago, there were a number of items that I hadn't worn in about a year and a half due to some weight gain due to very poor habits and my 6-week streak of vegetarianism brought on by the graphic chapter on meat in that awful book, Skinny Bitch. Seriously, it messed me up for a while. Stay away if you ever want to eat meat again. Ugh. (mental shudder, shake it off)

10-14 lbs make a huge difference in sizes, duh. (that's a duh to me, not to you) But there were some pieces that I really wanted to keep because I knew I would get back down to that size and I would wear them. (other pieces - it was a good reason to say good bye.) The whole point of a closet clean out is to streamline the closet and make it easy to get dressed because everything fits, it looks good, it's in good condition, etc. Solution? The need-to-drop-10-lbs pieces were put on blue hangers to distinguish them from the fitting clothes. There weren't too many of them to be discouraging. And it did help motivate me to see them. So now, I am wearing my blue hanger clothes - and so happy about it!

I would have loved to throw on one of the J Crew strapless jersey dressed today, but I really wanted to wear this - one of the blue hanger items. It's a black and white striped polo dress from J Crew, Spring 2007. (anyone recognize or have a clue about name?) And it was perfect today. Along with some gold jewelry, including the Dina hoops, and black ballet flats.

And I switched out to the J Crew purse (pictured at top) from last spring - my $15 purchase (so on sale at my local B&M) for a trip to Aruba that May with my best friend from high school. She traded her timeshare, so I just needed to get a plane ticket. It was gorgeous there! Anyone recognize the purse from last spring - name, etc? Anyway, I love the colors. Love the polka dots. Perfect purse to spruce up the outfit today. It's a nice size, too - bigger than a clutch and holds a lot! Of course, it totally reminds me of the Papagallo purses from when I was younger. (wow, I just dated myself yet again.) Any suggestions on cleaning the fabric? The fabric actually discourages me from using it more.

And I don't have a Polyvore because I couldn't find everything. But I will be clipping the purse to add to my items. And speaking of clipping to Polyvore...I finally got a semi-decent pic of the white rosette tee. Which I will now be clipping so that I can use it in my Polyvore sets. Yay! (Stupid J Crew for not ever putting the tee online, grumble, grumble, grumble.)

Enough grumbling...it's a beautiful day and I'm going to take Lucy for another nice walk. It's good for both of us! Weekend is looking a little busy, so not sure how much I'll be posting. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mothers Day!

Wearing Today - J Crew White Rosette Tee and Beechwood Merino Michelle

So last Friday, with my Mickey crewpon in hand, I hit up J Crew (again) before meeting my parents for lunch, and lo and behold, there were 2 nice stacks of rosette tees sitting on the front table, one of which was white. I had already been clued in on the white ones from Ema in her post, so they were on my radar. So I grabbed a couple sizes in white and went back to try on. I ended up getting the white, which I am just thrilled with! I sized up to Large due to the sheerness of it, so it's a little slouchy, but not slopping, IMO. And my mom, who doesn't shop at J Crew, loved the tee so much, we went back and got one for her (using my crewpon, of course).

I think this will be a perfect piece for me. I wear white camis, tanks, and tees so often, and this will just give some extra detail. And I wore it today, to go meet a friend for lunch. It was a chilly day, but I am totally feeling the spring vibe, so I paired it with white jeans and the Merino Michelle in Beechwood. I feel beachy, or beechy, not sure which. I did swap out the sandals in the Polyvore set for the Joley flats, since they had a little more coverage. (by the way - the white jeans lasted for about 6 hours, before I swapped them out for sweats - but I put them away clean to wear another day - so they were not done in by the puppy - yay!!)

Polyvore for today:

And here's the BIG question - I haven't found a pic of this tee anywhere on Polyvore or elsewhere to use on PV. Has anyone else? I don't think they even had white when it was first online. If anyone has a clue or can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!
