Boden Love

So it was ironic that I was wearing my Boden denim mini yesterday because this little lovely popped up in my in-box:

I'll give you the scoop since apparently when I upload photos from my laptop, they often can't be enlarged (and if anyone knows how to fix that, I would love a hint or two).

Free shipping AND free returns (last part important since they don't have a B&M here).

20% off everything today and tomorrow (9/9 & 9/10), drops to 15% off on Friday (9/11), then 10% on Saturday (9/12).

Beautiful part - NO CODE! That's right. They are so generous at Boden, that all you need to do is go to their website and they announce it right there at the top of the home page. No tricks, no smoke & mirrors, just a good discount for all of us.

Here's a Polyvore I did a while ago when I first got their delicious fall catalog.

Covetables from the Fall Boden Catalog

Lots of yummy choices. I don't think I'll be going hog-wild, but it's an excellent chance to give some of their pieces a try. Did I mention the free shipping and free returns? oh yeah, I did, but it bears repeating. Dinagideon is a huge fan of Boden - loves their prints, their colors, their quality, their fit. I am a total Boden newbie, but I am definitely becoming a fan.

So yesterday...back to Boden mini - love this skirt! I love the length - short on me, but not too short on my extra-long femur. (seriously, that's where all my height is) I wore it yesterday with my navy JC vneck sweater and a cream cami, plus (old) J Crew olive sneakers and a Silpada pearl necklace.

I can't wait to wear this skirt in fall/winter with tights + boots + sweaters. It's a great year-round piece.

Fun outfit for a fun day - Dog swim at the pool. Does your pool do this? The day after Labor Day, when the pool is officially closed to humans for the season, they have Doggie Swim. 5-7 pm. It is mass chaos, but totally hilarious and so much fun. Lucy still isn't a swimmer or a big water fan, but she LOVED running around and playing with the other dogs. And then she crashed for the evening.

So...do you think you'll give Boden a try?

For you veteran Boden fans, what are you coveting?

I've just started getting into Boden this year and I LOVE it...I ordered the green Parisian jacket you have in your polyvore, but the material is VERY thick wool bucle. My husband said I looked like I belonged in the movie Elf, lol. The construction on Boden clothes is EXCELLENT, and their shoes are awesome....

I like Boden, but find that many of the items are too boxy for me. Also, I am not that small (usually take a 2-4 in AT, BR and J Crew) and still get sized out of Boden sometimes, especially on the jackets, coats and sweaters. They do have a couple of pieces coming in the next rollout that I must at least try.

I pre-ordered a purple ruffle collar jacket from the winter preview. I love your picks. I'm really liking the bold colors Boden has this season. I could buy one of every jacket and reasly want a tunic. I have some credits to use and with thus discount code... I'm tempted!

What fun for Lucy! Our beaches open up to dogs after Labor Day, so ours are off to the beach this weekend!

I love the denim mini! I don't like when the mini is too mini, so this may work for me. Thanks for the code!

Hi Heidi--Thanks for this post! I love Boden too and have ordered more from there than anywhere else this fall. Thus, I am a little sad that I didn't get this email from them...and when I go to the site, I don't see any announcement of this promo either. (maybe you can only see it if you click through the email?)

Anyway, some of my favorite items I have bought this season have been the Parisian long-sleeved tee, the Favourite V-neck Cardigan, and the Rosebud Cardigan. I have also gotten a number of cute things for the girls. Happy shopping!

I also love the clothes that Boden has to offer, but I must say, they are way too big on me. I like their shoes too, but my size is always selling so quickly.

JC - Elf is one of my all-time fave movies!! I was wondering about the Parisian jacket - it is so gorgeous (and I love that green), but wonder if it would be too thick - thanks for the info!

kitsmommy - bummer on the sizing. Interesting about items being boxy - those usually work on my and my flat chest. :)

Pamela - purple + ruffles? pretty! they do have some great colors. I am waffling between the preppy knitted blazer in the light brown or the ivy. The ivy is more colorful, but the light brown has that great yellow-gold trim.

Kathy - dogs on the beach - what fun! One nice thing about Boden skirts is that the skirts come in regular and long lengths (above the knee skirts are usu 19" and 21"), so you can choose based on the hemline with which you are comfortable.

Ann - the notice on the home page isn't really large; it's just a text box at the top of the page - but I didn't click through the email - just went to bodenusa.com and it was there. And the 20% was automatically applied when I selected items - of course, I have things sitting in my shopping bag while I ponder them. Love your favorites list - I was eyeing that Parisian tee myself, and I should look at mini-Boden for the kiddies.

Rosa - again, as with kitsmommy - bummer on the size. Then again, they do start at size 8.

You look fantastic Heidi! I have been eyeing Boden for a long time now but have yet to make a purchase. I think I need to really reconsider that, too! Great post, btw! :)

Boden has some really great items in the Fall catalog. I ordered this velvet blazer (http://tinyurl.com/kv68ca) in Amethyst, Damson, and Orange since they were 15% off plus free shipping and returns, and I couldn't decide which color I wanted. But now I've received them and I STILL can't decide! Two have to go back, but all the colors are so pretty...I also got a cute flowered skirt and a denim pencil (backordered but now on the way). I love the free shipping and free returns. I wish J Crew tacked that on to their % discount offers.

Thanks for the Boden tip! I've been stalking the denim pencil skirt - and since I can't order just one item - also ordered the yellow Parisienne Jacket, black Velvet Blazer, and a sweater (or "jumper", silly brits!). Wish I could order some common sense and shopping restraint, too.

I LOVED that skirt yesterday! Meant to tell you that at the bus stop. So cute!

So I used to be the one enabling you to buy Boden, Ms. HeidiG. Somehow, you are now enabling me...I didn't get this e-mail until you forwarded it...hmmm...

Anyhow, maybe just maybe, I will purchase some giraffe print flats with the cutest teal bow. Hmm...

And maybe I will finally get around to reviewing the six or so pieces I have received from Boden so far for this fall. We'll see...

:)

I didn't get this promo either (boo hoo). It only works if you click through the email you got. I know I don't think I've ever commented here before (I lose track of which JCA blogs I've commented on) but would you forward it to me?

as a short person, I find Boden's LONG capri pants to be good regular pants for me...go figure.

our pool does NOT do that, but I have heard about it...me, the dog, and all his doggie friends are really missing out.

Note - I am sorry, didn't realize this was email specific since I had it up when I entered the full address in my browser - I guess the enabled cookie or whatever told them it was me, so the offer appeared. If anyone wants me to forward the email, I am happy to do so.

FFM - thank you!

Kate - oooh, tough call on the blazers! That Fs & FR is just so fab, isn't it??

shscott726 - if you find someone who sells common sense & restraint, be sure to send me the link. :) (great picks, by the way)

snaphappy - thank you!!

dinagideon - dying to see your Boden reviews!! (esp the Parisienne jacket, hint, hint) and those shoes are adorable!!

Erin - sent you the email a little earlier this evening, let me know if you did not get it.

C - long capris...hey, whatever works! I once got a pair of petite black cocktail pants because I wanted a pair of dressy capris and they weren't making them at that point - so I took the petite pants, folded up once, sewed a quick hem, and bam - cocktail capris...years before JC. sorry you don't have doggie swim - it's so fun...

Thanks to Heidi forwarding me the email I've place yet another order. Luckily for me a $20 "thank you voucher" for participating in their Boden surveys arrived in my inbox today, so I was able to combine that and the 20% off. I bought that cute horse shirt for my dd, a plain white long sleeve V-neck for me (they have great Ts) and the Essential Shirt in Vintage Gold Vine. I'd already purchased the Rainbow Cuff cardigan, favorite v neck cardigan in the raspberry and gold stripes, the polka-dotted scarf in mustard, and the weekend trousers. I do love me some Boden.

Heidi, could you please forward me the email, too? I have been going crazy thinking I need new glasses because I could not see the text box you mentioned. :-(

Thanks!

The Boden green jacket/ cardigan thing in your Polyvore reminds me of the Butterfield last year! I so need to get on the Boden website. Thanks for doing a highlight!

Melissa@AllThingsSimplified said...

Thank you for the code Heidi! I actually *took the plunge* and ordered the Denim Mini in Dark Indigo. I really hope I got the sizing and length right! How long does it usually take to receive your package?

Cute outfit!! I love it that dogs get to have their pool day!

Okay, so I decided to wait and get the items I am eyeing because I the ones I want are all very available, so I suspect I can get these for a better price or offer. :) This is what I do with boden...if I just HAVE to have it or it looks like the object I love is getting low in stock, then I get it...the four items I am looking at now can wait for a better deal...or time. (Money is tiny bit tight right now...) Here's to hoping the items are still around...

I will review the Parisienne jacket and soon...granted if the weather is anything like today more often then I may be reviewing it "for real" sooner than later.

I will say the weight and weave of the jacket is heavy enough for me to wear as OUTERWEAR...definitely to heavy for me as indoor wear. :) But since you run cold it may be the perfect indoor look for you!

Hi Heidi, great post! I started ordering from the miniboden catalog in the summer for my daughter and I found the prices a little bit steep compared to the Gap. But I placed a "back to school" order in August and the quality of the stuff received was AMAZING, so I took advantage of this offer and ordered another couple of things for her (I did receive their email). I also love their no-hassle return policy and the shipping times have improved since my first order (I received my last order in a few days). I have yet to take the plunge of ordering something for me (nothing that I "have to have" and I prefer to save the money for Jcrew)

HeidiG said...

Emily - happy shopping!!

FFM - hope you love the mini!! I love mine from the summer.

PFP - I don't know if Pudding would approve, but the doggies do love it!

dinagideon - that brings up an excellent point - the reviews - I was so close to ordering the Parisienne but the reviews reported how thick it was, so I balked - just can't imagine getting that heavy of a jacket right now - maybe if I was planning to use it for outerwear most of the fall winter...but my wardrobe is so mostly-casual, I'm still lusting after the JC Winnie coat. I think may actually pass this time, I am so waffling, and what I'm liking is more tops and I really need bottoms, shoes, and updated coat. Maybe I'll grab a tee or two...I don't know. I do love those dotted wool scarves, though.

Ema - I do agree on the prices being a bit steep but the mini-Boden is oh-so-cte!

Erin said...

Yes, I love the reviews. I definitely look at those when I'm considering an item.

Heidi, you should buy the scarf. They are super-cute! I can't wait to wear mine (oh, around Christmas, since it's still 95 degrees here in Nor Cal)

i love boden too! i just came across your blog and i am trying to find other companies like boden. I love the modest knee length skirts...do you know of any other compnaies like them or magazines i could get or web boutiques? thanks so much!
