A Perfect Piece - J Crew Daphne Dress

Don't you love it when you try on something and it really, truly feels perfect? It makes you stand up straighter and hold your head higher. Why then, did it take me so darn long to do an IRL wearing of the J Crew Daphne dress. Longer-term readers of my blog know that I was hemming and hawing about which dress to get back in the spring...and oh, thank you all for your input, this was SO the right decision.

I *finally* pulled it out to wear last Sunday for church. And yes, I did stand up straighter. I added the confetti necklace - I just love this piece - so glad I got it on sale - like pearls but matte, not shiny or iridescent, so they are kinda fun. And then the Joley flats in bronze twig. I felt kinda Mad Men-ish in this outfit. (not pictured is the cream cotton sweater jacket I wore with it since it was chilly - but you know how bad I am about getting a pic of my top-most layer).
This is definitely something I should wear more often. Simple. Easy. Perfect. And that's why I love dresses.

Of course I love this on you...perfection.

You know...I think I realize what dress shapes you and I should wear...you should wear the dresses with a lower waistband and more of a sheath shape whereas I should be wearing the dresses with either no waist or an empire waist with a flowing skirt. Interesting...

It is good to have you back, I always miss your posts...

You look fabulous in this dress!! I just love it on you! I tried it on back in June but it didn't look as good on me as it does you! Love the necklace with this also.

Absolutely gorgeous on you!

Thanks, ladies!! I am inspired to really start wearing this more regularly.

dina - I do fine with most empire waists, but it depends on the placement. And the one thing I cannot do is the shirring above the bust - that always works so well on you but is pefectly awful on me. (and I always love a no-waist dress, if it's not too full - you know for a brick, not a pear)

You look absolutely beautiful! I bought a pair of black joley flats earlier in the summer (on sale at a b&m for $49.99!) because you kept raving about yours. I finally wore them last weekend and they are so comfortable! I want the twig ones now too! Thanks so much for all of your reviews on them. I don't think I would have tried a patent shoe otherwise.

Kristin - So glad you are enjoying the Joleys! I saw them in black later in the summer and was not so smart and passed on them thinking "do I really need this in 2 colors?" Well, the correct answer was yes. Maybe they'll pop up on eBay sometime. Actually, I should try the JCA exchange. Food for thought...

Patina - thank you!
