Time to Breathe

I am sitting here with a lovely tall white wine spritzer, watching Devil Wears Prada (again). I never tire of that movie. I can just stare at the clothes all night long. And hubby's out playing poker, so it's a great girlie night movie. I have earned my chilling out because we just had E's birthday party here this evening. Lots of fun - an almost sleepover from 5:30-9:30. The girls had a lot of fun, but I am wiped. (Just so you know, hubby didn't leave for poker until after the party, though.) I am now unwinding.

But wow, those clothes make me look so boring...but that's ok, because these suit my lifestyle better. But watching does remind me that I do need to keep the bangs on - they've been growing a bit longer and I was considering leaving them a bit longer through the beach (1st week of August). But they really look much better across the brow than swept to the side, I think. Take a look at the latest pics to see. (Fortunately, I have a hair cut on Tuesday, so I just have to deal with them for a few more days.)

Friday - Kids at camp. Met a few friends at Starbucks after drop off. E had her recital at the end of dance camp. What fun!!

This is one of my fave ATL dresses - from last summer. So comfy, always cute (at least I think so). Easy for a hot summer day. Not much more to say about the outfit, though. Better than sweats?

Today was a busy, busy day as we were getting ready for the birthday party. The house is actually in order - and the basement is not totally trashed.

Since I'm the mom/host, I needed something easy and comfy, that worked standing, sitting, etc. ATL tiered skirt and the J Crew chiffon rose tee. And I realized I haven't really been wearing the chiffon rose tee much, so clearly that needs to change. It's such a cute tee, it needs more exposure. I'll have to fix that.

Finish off with Danielle sandals, braided rope rose gold bracelet, Dina hoops. Honestly, I was dying to wear the clementine pearl garden bracelet today, but given the crafts for the party, I thought a slightly smaller scale bracelet would work better.

And I finally met a crazy nail polish that I can't stand. Last fall's OPI Parlez-Vous OPI. I saw this on friends last fall and really liked it but figured it wouldn't work so well on my skin tone. Sephora by OPI's Metro Chic was much better on me. Well, I should have listened to myself because I put on Parlez-Vous OPI last night and it was awful on me.

See? Not good at all. I think it's actually too red for my yellow-y skin tone. I couldn't wait for the party to be over so I could put on a new color tonight. Barielle - Misbehavin' Mistress - so much better.

And in other fun news, my blog was featured on the Polyvore blog again in their Polyvore Love Letters - Blog Roundup post. (mine is the 5th down.) I am amazed and thrilled. It was my post on Day Dresses. So yay! What a treat to see that. Thank you, Polyvore!

Congrats to you, again! It is so nice to unwind after a party a home, the house is fairly clean and there is nothing else to do! I enjoy that feeling! I know what you mean about choosing clothes for your lifestyle, I always have to keep that in mind as I shop, there is just no place to wear the fancy stuff very often!

Hey that is great about PV featuring you again- congrats! I also love Devil wears Prada, its a great chick flick. Have you seen confessions of a shopoholic yet? That is also a good chick flick for those kind of nights!

First up, if you keep wearing those ridiculously cute sandals in every post I am going to have to come raid your closet and keep them for myself! I love them so much and every time you wear them it's like saying "ninner ninners GingerSnap - you cannot have cute sandals" :::stomps feet::: I want them now!

Ok, sorry for that. Anyway, I also wanted to say that I too am a big fan of the Devil Wears Prada. I also tend to like any of those makeover movies: Princess Diaries, She's All That, Clueless, Ms. Congeniality, etc. I just LOVE those type of movies and can watch them over and over again!

Whatcha talking, boring? You look sweet and very put together!!! I esp. love the spaghetti strap black dress...very pretty...I would say with some jewelry and a pair of embellished shoes, you could go to dinner with your husband.

I bet E had a great time...you are a great mommy!

And you definitely deserve a glass of wine!

P.S. Love the purple nail polish!

I love the sideswept bangs with the pony tail...very chic; however, you can wear bangs so easily as well. I say because you can do either, go with whichever is the easiest to style.

Love the idea of a wine with The Devil Wears Prada (sounds fun!).

love that movie too! i don't think your bangs look bad so don't worry! i also love your nail color and i've seriously fallen in love with the opi brand. it may cost a little more than the other nail polishes but it has a great brush and just glides on your nail and has instant shine! opi is definitely worth it! :)

Ahh-- nothing beats unwinding after a party! I love that movie too and always get sucked in when its on. I find that I need to remember to buy for my lifestyle too-- machine washable is still a priority!
Looove Metro Chic too! I don't think that OPI is bad on you!

I love funky colored nail polishes! If you're on the lookout for a purple, then try the Lippmann Collection. I just ordered 2 different purple nail polishes from them. My workplace is too conservative for purple toenails so I just have to be sure to wear close-toed shoes everyday! But it's fun knowing I have something cool on my toes even if no one can see it.

Kathy-since the party was in the basement the rest of the house was spotless, so I was in heaven!

Jemma Ruby - I did see COAS. Liked it a lot, but Devil is my first love, I must say. I never tire of watching it.

GingerSnap - oops, sorry. Hate to vex you in the midst of bar study. Will try to hold of wearing until after. :) (they are such GingerSnap shoes, too) Clueless is another favorite of mine, too.

dina - thanks! E loved the party and it was fun.

PFP - thank you!

Patina - I bet Parlez-Vous OPI is gorgeous with your skin. E's wearing it right now and it's great on her, too. I try to steer her towards good polish because at that age, polish always chips, so if you at least start with good polish, it lasts longer. Nothing more frustrating that doing a 7-year-old's nails only to have half the polish chip off the next day.

monogramgirl - thanks for the feedback! I have decided to keep the longer bangs through the beach and then re-evaluate. Much as I love the bangs, and love how they hide my old-lady forehead, it's nice to change things up. I'm thinking I'll go with this for now, and then in September chop 2" off the length and go with the bangs. We'll see. :)

Lula Mae - it was an excellent combo - I highly recommend it!

ashley - OPI is, hands down (pardon the pun), my favorite brand of polish - for colors, application, formula - all of it.

Stephanie - Metro Chic would have been better - P-V OPI just didn't do it for me. I covered up the next day. Love it on E, though.

Julia - I have tried Lippmann before and she does have some fab colors! Rocker feet in closed-toe shoes - love it!

FFM - thank you!

Cari - thank you, but I think cute for E, not so much for me. (It was actually worse in person than in the pic. Hate that.) But my daughter is loving it and we'll keep it for her. And who knows, maybe it would work on me mid-winter when my skintone is way different?

The Outfit of the Day - thank you! I have pics from last Sunday, but still need to post since I am so behind! It was a lot of fun - they are such great girlies!!
