Beach Update and Retail-Only (?) J Crew Canvas Market Tote

Update on the Beach:

3 = spray cans of Coppertone Sport (25% more free) that I brought
50 = SPF of Coppertone Spray (I usually like Neutrogena, but
12 = bottles of Corona in the case that I dropped in the driveway the first night here
1 = slivers of glass I had to dig out of hubby’s foot after he walked barefoot in the driveway
0 = times I have gone out shopping here other than the grocery store (I don’t anticipate that number staying constant)
7.5 = hours it took us to get here
10 = my rating of the grouper sandwich I had for lunch at 2:00 when we arrived. Yum!
5 = hours I have had to work this week (thank you, beach house, for the wireless internet)
1 = total hours of blog & Polyvore reading I have done this week (will catch up now that work is done)
2 = books I have read
5 = magazines I have read

And let me tell you about my new bag. No, it’s not the Campo bag – I can’t justify that one without at least some % off. I hemmed and hawed about this purchase but actually swung by JC the day before we left to get this tote. I haven’t seen it online (thus using dupes in Polyvore). It is like the Metallic Market Tote ($125, #17861), but it is coated canvas. I got it in SAM - Soft Amber? I didn’t see it on Gigi’s color abbreviation key. Maybe it’s retail only? So I will dub it the Coated Canvas Market Tote ($68, #17138 – I think). The store also had it in - and this is my guess on the colors, since I didn’t look at the other tags – shell, and dark mushroom/khaki.

I love this tote. Clearly, I must since I was at the store purchasing it the day I was packing. To be fair, I had all of our clothes laid out on the bed, waiting for 1 more load of laundry, so I was doing well. And I had an exchange to do at GapKids since I underestimated E’s height again. (dang, that girl is getting tall, just like her brother!) So anyway, to quote from the website’s description of the metallic market tote (which says it’s online only, but I saw both metallic colors at Montgomery Mall):

Cotton canvas handles with leather detailing. Top interior snap closure with leather trim. Interior front-wall hanging patch pocket. Unlined. Import. 8" handle drop. 12 1/2"H x 19 3/4"W at top, 10 1/2"W at base x 8 1/2"D.

The only difference I can find is that my tote has 2 interior pockets – 1 open pocket and 1 zip pocket – Love my pockets. But I think all the other info is the same. Interior pic at left. I love the colors of this tote. It’s perfect for now at the beach – well, color & weight & capacity. But I think I can carry this color right through November since it’s so muted. And canvas is so much lighter than leather, so it’s a nice break for my shoulders.

Ooh, I so miss your posts! Welcome back. :)

I like that tote! I saw it in the B&M too, when I was there returning things. I did see the other colors too; although, I can't quite seem to get myself to justify another bag purchase. (I'm having a hard time rotating my existing bags as it is! I'm so bad. :P)

I agree with you on the color, too. 'Could totally carry you through fall.

Sounds like you are having a fantastic time...other than the glass and the work! I love the color of the tote, it is the perfect color for fall!

This tote is adorable! I think Law&Fashion bought it too. I haven't been to a retail store in over a week and I'm going crazy... hopefully I'll get some time to check out the newer in store arrivals soon!

Hope you're having a great time at the beach!

Love that tote! I'll have to look for it on my next trip to the B&M. Oh, and grouper sandwiches are my favorite when we go to the beach too. Delicious! So fun to hear of your travels! :)

I love the shell color it comes in. Your vacation sounds good overall. 2 books? How luxurious.

I bought that tote the day it came out! in shell/lilac - IRL pics on my blog. I went by yesterday and all the shell/lilac ones are gone. sooo pretty! It's called the Cocteau on my receipt.

Sounds like a great vacation Heidi and what a cute bag! I hear you about the Campo. I ended up getting a leather gallery satchel instead for half the price. This bag will definitely get you through fall.

Drewablank - I would justify it based on lower price and usage in that it can function as a purse or as a tote; use it for the beach/pool; use it for about 9 months of the year. The yellow and the pink color are so pretty!!

Kathy - Work is over (I think) and hopefully hubby got the last of the glass up. Yes, I was apologizing as I was digging the glass splinter out of his foot. He wants to send it to the FBI lab to see if in fact, it does say Corona, but I conceded.

Sweet Tea - thank you!

Summerilla - I hardly had time to even look at the new arrivals, and I'm going to the river next week Wed-Sat, so I think Tysons may be my first peek at the new arrivals. Maybe that's not such a bad thing, though. :)

RatsOnParade - thank you!

Gigi - I agree with you on the shell, but the yellow was a bit more me. I'm up to 2.75 books. I was halfway through another, I was bored, so I read the last quarter just to see what happened. :) (I'm much pickier about which books I read all the way through now that I have kids - not enough time.)

jcbellemarie - I just popped over to your blog (I thought I was a follower but I'm not so I just rectified that). Love your pics of the shell/lilac - yes, it definitely has a purple-ish cast to it. Sounds like you are loving it as much as I am. (and thanks for correcting the name - my receipt is at home)

Stylestance - thank you! yes, I will!!

Lissa - thank you!

A Bigger Closet - gallery satchel - yummy! I do want to see the Campo in person so I can figure out what it would be worth to me. It is so pretty online, but I have no idea about the IRL.

Patina - right with you on wanting to see the Campo bag. (any chance we can at Tysons??)

Sounds like you're having a great time, even with a couple of *glitches* like glass and work. ;) Congrats on the new bag...very cute!

I bought that bag too in the same color, isn't it great?! I really love it! At my B&M they also had the bag in gold which I almost bought but I'm a sucker for yellow :)

FFM - thank you! (and um, hubby still pulled more glass out of his foot Fri evening - I didn't get it all, oops.)

Law & Fashion - I am a total sucker for yellow, too - and I think the shade makes it so neutral. Have you found a good Polyvore dupe yet?
