The Nail Files - You're "Aragon"-na Love It

Here's the picture of what I was wearing on Friday. Quiz - What is green in the outfit?

Give up? My toenails. Ok, it's not that green of a green...it is rather dark, and quite frankly, this was the best I could do to get the color.

OPI Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow, from the Fall 2009 Coleccion de Espana. ("Discover this dark emerald before it says adios") I love this color. Fun, fun, fun fall color. I actually put Tickle My France-y back on my fingers as I just wasn't sure I was ready for dark tips, but as soon as I did my pedi, I sighed and thought "wow, this would kick a== on the fingers". Eh, maybe next time.

Interestingly enough, I have been seeing green polish everywhere. Allure actually cited this specific shade as their Color of the Moment in the September Issue. I also saw green polishes in People StyleWatch and Marie Claire (and haven't even made it through all the September mags yet). See Suzi's Beauty Blog for her comments on it. (That's Suzi Weingarten, the creator of OPI, in her Aug 13 entry "Green is the New Black".) This particular one, as dark as it is, would be a good "starter" green since it skews closer to black, so it's not as much of an in your face green.

Coverage was pretty good. And you know I love the OPI formula + brush. I will admit that I actually didn't remove my prior pedi because I was way lazy, so I just slapped on 2 coats of Aragon and a top coat. I wonder if the color would read as a little more green on a bare nail. I'm sure I'll figure that one out soon, because I will be wearing it a LOT this fall and winter. And Christmas? Oh yeah, right in the holiday spirit with the green nails. If my mom is reading this, she is probably rolling her eyes - I did get her to do a pedi with the Essie Looking for Love pale lavender, but that's as far as she'll go into wacky territory - she is *not* a fan of the dark colors. Speaking of holidays, know of anyone going as the Swamp Creature for Halloween, the first coat of Aragon would be perfect - it's a great streaky swampy green with just 1 coat.

Back to the outfit - yep, it's the posture dress from ATL. Always stand up straight! (We should do that anyway.) Plus black sandals, stud earrings, and this cute little bracelet that I made a few years ago on a Moms Night Out. My first and probably last foray into jewelry making, but I love the colors of it, it's got a fun little cha-cha thing going and....now I can clip it to Polyvore. The only downside is that, given my very amateur beading skills at the time (and, um, now), the twists on the pin-things is not the greatest and it occasionally catches on things - so, much like the good old twisted crystal necklace, it's best not to wear it with a sweater.

And speaking of Polyvore, somehow I lucked into being featured on the Polyvore blog again, just below "How to Pack for a Winter Mediterranean Cruise" - I wish - but useful info, check that one out, too. Thanks, Polyvore!

I love the green nails!! You always have the best nail polish colors! I just painted my toe nails brown last night and I'm loving it. I love all the bright colors of summer but I'm totally ready for the dark colors of fall. I'm definitely going to keep this green in mind :)

Hi Heidi, Love your nail polish! And I really love that dress, which I found at ATL after you posted PV sets with the tiered skirt. I went looking for the skirt, and found this dress and have LOVED it all summer!

I love your bracelet too!

I am not going to be able to make it to the event tomorrow, and I am so bummed. I want to meet you and everyone so badly! Say hello to all for me! I hope there is another one soon!

You look fab in this dress, can we say hot mom? I am in love with that toe nail polish. I haven't bought any new colors lately from OPI and I really need to check out the new fall colors.

Cute bracelet you made too - yay for tomorrow!!!

Law and Fashion - thank you! I do worry that people are going to be weirded out by my polish choices sometimes, but they make me happy. I bet your toes look fab, too!

Patina - thank you! (lucy helps me keep it off)

Suzy - thank you - but bummer, so sorry you won't make it tomorrow! I wanted to swap Lucy stories. :) 3-PP is planning one for November, so we will definitely let you know. Glad you are enjoying the dress, too!

Summerilla - thank you! Let's look at nail polish after JC tomorrow - it's one of my favorite hobbie (as if you couldn't tell)

Only the Good Stuff - thank you!

mrs.anketell - glow is probably beach/river/pool (SPF 70, though) plus a lot of lotion - I am pretty good about keeping lotion on my limbs, so I think that does make the skin look so much better. Glad you are loving your dress, too - I've tried it with a cami, but couldn't get it to look right - guess I need to play around a bit more - did you go with straight, scoop, lace, or v-neck?

That is a cool polish! I am still rocking the pink shades right now, but as soon as it starts to feel more Fall like out, I'll probably switch to "russian navy" I love that OPI color - I'm also on the hunt for a cool neon shade too!

Love the green nails! I just got Orly Enchanted Forest but waiting until it's really fall - trying to wear my summer colors for as long as possible!

Love the green polish! Congrats on the PV mention again-- great job! I find I'm not into PV in the summer-- too many shorts and tee shirts here maybe? My summer outfits are lacking in inspiration!
I love the black dress!!

GingerSnap - Summer had Russian navy on her toes today. I know it's still hot out, but I think have switched over to full-on fall mani/pedi mode.

Heather - I saw that one in People StyleWatch - so pretty - if I find this one isn't green enough for me later one, I will have to track that one down. Ulta is usually the only store with Orly near me.

Stephanie - thank you! What's hard for me with PV in the summer is that I feel like I have been wearing the same 3 dresses over and over and over again.

Heidi - Do you have a Sally's Beauty Supply near you? They carry Orly. You can also order them online from Victoria's Nail Supply for cheap!

Love your blog btw, I've been reading it for awhile now. :)

I must confess, I'm looking forward to colder weather,if only for the sake of my fingernails, which are dying to be painted plum, dark grey, hunter green, and navy! (and oh so many other dark and lovely colors!)

p.s. my boss (who tends to be fairly traditional and formal) complimented my orange finger nails a few weeks ago which means that it's officially OK to wear orange nails to work! whoohoo!
