Moving Minnies into Fall...

J Crew Minnies (#18850, $79.50). Do I really need to wax poetic about them again? Fun in the warm weather with a tee and flats or sandals. But now that the weather is getting cooler (I say ironically as we are going to have a high of 74 degrees today)...such a great fall/winter pant. Yes, they are cropped as can be on me...but that's why God invented boots. Or someone did.

I took an 8 in the Minnies, and they have worked quite well. I *did* wash them - both pairs (coal & black) last week and they bounced back just fine. I did a delicate wash with some other dark clothes (like fine gauge sweaters and tissue tees) and used Woolite - or rather Target's generic version. Then I put them in the dryer for about 5 minutes on fluff and laid flat on a drying rack. I don't think they shrank at all; they just went back to original shape. So yes, you can wash your Minnies - this may be especially good news for those of you who got the british khaki color. Also, in case you didn't read it here or elsewhere already, they are available in store in navy.

Here are a couple of my latest Minnie looks for fall.

(left) Wednesday, 10/14 - Cool day but not too cold, so still sticking the ballet flats. This sweater is one of the cuddliest I own - from Ann Taylor Holiday 2007. It's just like a big hug. Pairing it with a more fitted tee and the black skinny Minnies helps manage the bulk.

(middle 2 pics) Thursday, 10/15 - Cold & rainy (the start of the weekend deluge...) All I can tell you is that my feet stayed warm and dry all day in the Minnies & boots. So comfy! And the Minnies stayed totally tucked into the boots all day. Will be a winter staple, that's for sure. Here I have the chunky star cable popover with the coal Minnies. I have to say that I am thrilled with this outfit. You know how you try on a piece of clothing and sometimes you have an instant outfit pictured in your mind? When I first tried on the Minnies, this was the exact outfit I pictured. Hope you like it...you'll be seeing it a lot this winter. I do love the bracelet sleeves of this sweater - perfect for showing off something sparkly (just like the one in my giveaway - have you entered?), but a long sleeve tee or turtle will later perfectly underneath later when it's colder. And that's the Kate Spade purse I got at the outlet last December. I have no idea what it's name is or whether it's "real" retail or outlet only, but I love the combo of the brown leather with the dark brown patent trim. And it's lined in leopard, so it's always fun to peek inside. (and dina will probably fuss if I forget to mention the Dina hoops, so yes, I am wearing them too.)

Saturday, 10/17 - Still cold, raining, etc, etc, etc.... Minnies & boots again for sure! This time, coal Minnies with black boots - plus cream cashmere long sleeve tee. Again, my toesies were warm & dry all day long, thank you very much. Kept the jewelry simple with stud earrings and a pocket watch necklace - mine is from AT Loft a couple of years ago. And yes, I'm pretty sure I had at least 3 cups of tea that day.

Up tomorrow...Minnies for 80-degree days. Just kidding...I think it's only supposed to get to 79.

I think I am going to have to give the Minnies another look after reading your post. I tought that I didn't like them when I tried them on in store but maybe I am thinking of something else. I keep reading the rave reviews. Your sets are so cute. Keep the Minnie pics coming!

The Minnies are fantastic on you! So great with the boots. Don't you love things you can wear all year? I'm determined this fall to keep using my warm-weather favorites and just wearing them in different ways :)

That's it you've convinced me - I must buy the minnies in another color. I adore the black pair and I think I need the coal and perhaps the navy as well. I had planned on getting them during our last shopping trip but they were sold out in my size. I just love how you've paired them, especially with the boots. These are definitely pants we'll still be wearing in the Spring.

Also - Congrats on almost 200 posts!! I love your giveaway but of course I'm not going to enter, it just wouldn't be fair.
I did let the BF read the kind words you wrote about him, he was very flattered. I still can't believe that bracelet went to $10. The scattered beaded necklace he got me just went down to $20, and he paid full price for that one too!! Thanks again for the kind words!

I live your stylings of the Minnies for fall! They look great with boots. That is a definate fall/winter staple for me. I am having crew withdrawl. I can't wait to get to the store this weekend. I may have to sneak out at lunch tomorrow!

Wow, Heidi, you look great in your Minnies and boots!! You could totally do the long cardi thing too!

I love my charcoal Minnies and you look great in them! Thanks for letting me know about washing them.

You've really inspired me with these FAB outfits! I might have to wear my Minnie's tomorrow!
A big THANK YOU for the washing tip. I think fear of the DryCleaner has kept me from wearing my Minnie's!

I love the Minnies, Heidi, but my curvy body just doesn't like them! So, for you full-figured girls out there -- try Chico's Westwood Pants. They are EXACTLY the same weight and material as the Minnies and also have the skinny leg. You can get them in "Short" so they are actually cropped like the Minnies and they fit me like a dream. Only difference is the zipper front and not zipper side like the Minnies. I am THRILLED to have found these pants because I was bummed missing out on the Minnies. The Chico's Westwood come in Black, Cream, Khaki and a deep Brown. No Charcoal but can't have everything, right? Really an ice fit and you can style with everything the Minnies work with.

I"m a new follower!

Ok..those minnies look so cute on you! I'm going to have to give them another try..they looked horrible the first time! =)

Emily - TY! I would think they would be fab on you - just make sure you get a small enough size.

Stylestance -TY! Yes, loving how versatile these are - maybe not in the crazy heat of summer, but at least 10 months of the year!

Summerilla - wear them tomorrow...with your flora earrings...hehehe. If you will, I will. Yes, we will definitely be living in them in the spring. And you should still enter the giveaway - think of how fab & sparkly 2 bracelets would be together!!

Pamela - TY! Ooooh, crew withdrawal - that's harsh. Def sneak out at lunch!!

Jenni - TY! I actually have done my long cardis with it - but that was the week the camera was still in hubby's trunk so I didn't get any pics (coal Minnies are fab with beechwood Michelle). But I am considering one of the forever cardis - I am totally digging the light berry color. But also really want a camel cardi....

Molly Darling - happy to help! I love getting the laundering info from other JCA's, too!

DaniBP - TY! And glad to help - machine washable = fave clothes. can't wait to see them on you tomorrow!

AnneG - Excellent advice!! Great direction to the Chicos alternative. You know I am a huge fan of their jeans, but I haven't tried the regular pants. I may have to check these out as well. Thanks for sharing the info!!

Kathy - TY!!

Sweet Tea in Seattle - I could totally see you rocking these pants! Definitely try them out.

Chasing Davies - TY! They work fab under the boots - most impressive.

Domestic Goddess - a new follower - yay! Thanks for joining in the fun! Definitely try them again - and crazy as it sounds, if they looked bad last time, try sizing down...I swear. :)

Thank you so much for the tips on the washing. Mine need a washing very badly, I wore them every other day in the last two weeks.
Great to know that I don't need to sped money on the dry cleaning. On the other side they have stretched out a little bit, so i was hoping that the dry cleaning would also put them back in shape. Will see. I almost ordered the camel during the 20% promo but I thought that that color would probably be easy to find on sale.

They look great in all your outfits and especially with boots. I thought that the second and third outfit were the same (plus or minus the bag), I had to look closer to see that the color was different and the sweater not the same!

Oh the minnies! This post is torture for me, I want them so bad and they look so good on you, but the minnies just don't love me back!

But I love all the outfits you put together. I love those black boots, super cute!

You look so stylish in all these 'minnie' outfits Heidi. OK, you've almost convinced me to try them...can't believe I haven't yet actually!

jcmama said...

I have the Minnies in black and was worried they were dry clean only and thanks for letting us know that it can be washed. Yay!

Love the way you styled it...definitely love it with flats and hopefully it gets cooler here so I can wear it with boots.

Woobie said...

Oh the minnies and the boots almost make that cold weather on the horizon not so bad- very cute! Making me wonder if I should grab the khaki while I still can (have the black and charcoal).

GingerSnap said...

I really do need a support group for these pants ... I want them but they look ridiculous on me :::tears up::: Why can't they just fit????!??!? Wheres Rose when I need my support group buddy? :)

Rosa said...

I am here Gingersnap! I cried when I saw Heidi looking so good on those minnies. Why can they work for us???

HeidiG said...

Rosa & GingerSnap - oops, pardon my insensitivity...so sorry. Just sub in your fabbie toothpicks any time you see the Minnies - they're practically interchangeable, right? No more crying on my blog, ok?

Ema - yeah, I tend to stockpile the cream/tan colors, don't I?

A Bigger Closet - I can't believe you haven't tried them, either. I would imagine they would be fab on you - just size down to be sure.

jcmama - it stays so well with boots! i'm very pleased.

Woobie - given your rules, yes, grabe the khaki - how fab for spring?

PFP - thank you, ma'am! I do kinda feel like a bad-a$$ when I'm sporting the boots - I think I should just go with that...
