So...felt really good about the outfit - a BR tunic from last summer. I am thrilled this fits again because it was fantastic last summer, but then it accidentally went into the dryer - oops. But 15 pounds lighter and it's fine. Yay! It's such a great easy, breezy piece to wear in the summer, esp with just a cami underneath (i.e. no bra). The - what do you call them? they're shorter than capris, longer than bermudas - clam diggers? Anyway, they're from Old Navy, 3 years ago, and haven't fit me in over a year, so double yay! I have to say these...clamdiggers are one of the best made bottoms that I own. The quality in the fabric, the pocket lining, etc is really fantastic. Most impressive.

Weather switched out when an insane cold front rolled through last night with major storms, so this morning, we are back to spring/fall weather. Out comes the library shawl cardi - with a white BF tissue tee & my outlet matchsticks. Joley flats, twisted crystal necklace doubled up and a gold nugget necklace gave some sparkle at the neck. (And yeah, after the convo on Gigi's blog about the pigeon-toed JC models, had to try it out myself, hehehe. I think it works. No wonder E looks so long & lean.)
It was a fun and surprising day. I went in to the office to have lunch with hubby. Fab place in Mclean, J Gilberts - so yummy. I love the steak salad because it's actually a little steak, next to a wedge salad, with some polenta croutons on the other side. And they have these Maytag Bleu cheese potato chips (home made chips) which are just insane - no chips today as I didn't want to go home to a food coma.
After lunch, I swung by the Tysons J Crew to check out the Esplanade skirt. Summerilla tried this on Saturday night and I just loved it I have a black one arriving via UPS tomorrow. The B&M had it in the dark slate, but it just did not look great on me. I am hopeful that the black one will work better - you know how that goes, sometimes knits that aren't great in colors actually look good in black. We'll see.
I did pick up the Dressy Jersey Strapless Dress again in navy, which I had previously returned, since it was now marked down to $49.99. And I have worn the charcoal one at least 4 times already this season, so it's a good one. I washed it - just regular wash and then the dryer, and it came out just fine. Yay!! Love machine-washable, and dry-able is bonus.
My surprise was that while I was at Tysons, this lovely chic lady came up to me and introduced herself since she recognized me from my blog. So Kathy (or Cathy?) W, I just want you to know that you completely and totally made my day! I loved your outfit - the golden yellow blouse, layered necklaces, and white trousers. You looked fantastic! Hope you had successful shopping and the dressy jersey strapless dress worked for you, too. It will be perfect for your upcoming NC beach vaca - that dress just screams beach vacation to me, and all other associated summer fun. Definitely drop us a line when we are planning the next DC JCA event, we would love for you to join us! (that goes for any other DC JCAs lurking around, too... :) )

I love those peep toe flats! You look so pretty in both but don't you just hate when you have two seasons in one day- that drove me nuts!
Well, first of all let me say that I think your weightloss is PHENOMENAL...what an accomplishment and so very exciting! :) Secondly, you just look absolutely beautiful in both pics, and the pigeon toe stance is fab.
Congrats on your new purchases...I'm sure you will look great in them!
Cute outfits, and about those ON clamdiggers ... sometimes I am stunned by the quality of ON pieces, especially tailored pieces like pants and jackets. The seaming and inside details on some of my ON jackets is impeccable, and some I got for $6 on sale. Isn't it great to find a little treasure like that!
You look fantastic!! Loving the library cardi outfit, of course:)
You're famous!!I love both outfits. And yes - congrats to you on your weight loss. You look gorgeous.
I am totally back to cold weather wear today too...
Rain, rain go away here in the DC Area!! I mean...what gives? Yes, congrats on the weight loss. I know from experience how hard that is. And, I am totally envious of your Bronze Twig Joley flats. I WANT! They never had them at Tysons B&M among the other Joley flats on sale and now they are gone, gone, gone from the web site. Sigh! I second your big thumbs-up for J. Gilbert! I frequently make my "downtown-working" friends come out to meet me "work-from-home-gal" -- It's a good half-way point to meet and the food is YUMMY! Library cardi was perfect for chilly day yesterday -- and looking outside today, I might pull mine out. June where are you????
Both great outfits!
I hope the esplanade skirt works out for you. I think it's the same great fabric as the dressy jersey dress...washes and dries really well. I have it in both dark slate and navy. It's nice for times when you want to be just a tiny bit more dressed up than shorts, but still casual (and cool)!
I *love* that tunic, and it looks so great on you! And good on you, what an accomplishment losing those pounds and being able to reclaim the top!
Great outfits! Congratulations on the weight loss! Good for you!!
Love both outfits - you always look fantastic - I love your sense of style! I'm really enjoying your blog - keep up the great work! Please show picks of the esplanade skirt when it arrives! Congrats on the weight loss - please share how you did it!!
HeidiG.:
You look so sweet in both outfits!!! I am not surprised you wore the library cardigan...it was a bit chill and damp yesterday. What are you wearing today? A parka? Heehee. I am wearing jeans, a really long tunic top with LONG sleeves and flip-flops (I just can't give them up once I start wearing them on a regular basis).
I hope M. feels better after his visit to the dentist! (Oh, and you are an AWESOME mom...)
I also LOVE the story about Cathy and her recognizing you. How fun. I hope she comes out on some of our excursions!
I am with you on the rain--give it a rest, puh-lease!!! Our house is kind of built into a hill, and our garage has acquired an enormous puddle of standing water thanks to the ground water seeping in. Our dehumidifier cannot keep up!
You look great in both outfits. I love the easy-breezy summer outfit. And how cool that you were recognized! What a fun day :) Hope you'll enjoy the Esplanade skirt. I got one in the weathered stone but haven't worn it out yet (it's a little short and thin for school, but perfect for summer days).
have a lovely weekend :)
I love both your outfits and I'm also disliking this weather! I mean clamdiggers to sweaters over night - boo to you mother nature! I hope the weather over the weekend is better.
I'm happy to hear you picked up the strapless jersey dress in navy again, especially on sale. I think you'll get a lot of wear out of it and be happy you bought it. And how awesome you got recognized from your blog! You're like a celebrity now, hehe! Does that mean I can say I am friends with a celebrity?
Heyyy Heidi...check out this commercial for a huge laugh! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1ZZreXEqSY
You are the best mom ever! I want a Micky D's lunch today...
I'm glad someone at Tyson's remembered you! They never remember me, not even 20 minutes after I talk to them in the store. That's why I love my Pentagon "home"! But Tysons does get a lot of good shoes and accessories, so sometimes I visit anyway.
I'm glad you mentioned J. Gilbert's. It's right near my office and I've meant to go there for years but never have. Now I'll definitely try it. Let me know the next time you come into VA!
sorry for the delay in responding - I was on a conference call all day, other then, uh, taking Lucy's "sample" to the vet.
Jemma Ruby - thanks - crazy weather! But, um, I think I'll take it over your 100-degree heat - I couldn't deal with that.
FFM - thank you!
Stylestance - the quality onsome of their ON pieces is just amazing, and then on other stuff it can be so poor - so inconsistent. Those jackets sound fab!
mrs.anketell - of course! and I have the beechwood michele on today, posting later on. :)
PBP thanks! and I am trying to be positive and enjoy the cuddly J Crew sweaters...but losing internal credibility with that line every time I use it.
AnneG - did you try Montgomery? Last time I was there, they had a bunch of bronzed twig Joleys. I think June returns tomorrow afternoon, actually.
Ann - thanks! the black Esplanade arrived today, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I love skirts for summer because I personally think they are much cooler than shorts - had to wait until kiddies were out of diapers and I was no longer sitting on floors to change them.
Lady Buttons - thank you! I guess it worked out well in the end because its original fit might have been a little too flowy for me now.
Stephanie - thank you!
Elizabeth in MO - thank you! I will share pics of the Esplanade, good or bad. Weight loss - I would attribute maybe 5 lbs to better exercise habits and definitely 10 to better eating. Just getting my head in a better place about my eating habits and what my body needs vs. what I want. It was the decision to get a puppy that for some reason, put my head in the right place. Not even getting Lucy, but before that - once we made the decision, I was just there. Weird, huh?
Dina - I hope Cathy joins us, too! I do NOT have a parka on today, you silly thing...just a wool sweater, hehehe (ok, it's a lightweight one - the Michelle cardi). Of course, you have on long sleeves, so it must be frigid.
AppGal - puddle of water in the garage? Oh yuck! I like the weathered stone color in the Esplanade, too. I think it will be a great go-to piece in the summer.
Summerilla - thank you and yeah, boo on the weather! I am very happy I got the navy dress - and at better price than FP w the Mickey card. Meeting Cathy was a treat - it's nice to know that people actually value what we do.
luvallthingsjcrew - I think that Heineken ad was my favorite during the Super Bowl...and sums up my marriage, too. :)
3-PP - Tysons had some awesome shoes yesterday - more than I remember Montgomery having. They even had a pair of Coralie heels, spearmint, in 8 1/2 - knowing they were too small, I tried them on anyway. Beautiful. Let's definitely do lunch at J Gilberts sometime - and then we can just enjoy lunch and not be tempted by shopping, for once. AnneG - want to meet us? Hubby had grilled fish over asparagus risotto that was heavenly. I have yet to be disappointed by their meals.
Heidi -- I'm all about lunch at J. Gilbert's! Schedule allowing, would love to join you all sometime! BTW, Tyson's ALWAYS has good shoe selection...best among the area B&Ms. Coralies been on sale there for ages...my last few shoe purchases have been there...nice sales and earlier than they go on sale online.
FYI, Heidi -- just checked with Montgomery on the Joley Bronze Twig. Answer: "We transferred them all out..none left." Question: Transfer to where? Wish I knew!!! Bummer! Thanks for the idea, though.
AnneG - Sorry MM was no help - bummer. Yeah, I'd like to know where "out" is! And J Gil - definitely!!
You look great. I love your outfits.
Both outfits look terrific on you Heidi! I can relate to your weather because we had a heatwave all week that finally cooled off last night.
monogram girl & A Bigger Closet - thank you!
