Update on Lucy

Ok, so I’ve been away-ish for a couple of days with a cold, trying to get everything done and get ready to head to NC for niece’s HS graduation this weekend – technically we are leaving Thursday afternoon, so I am working on some last minute laundry so I can pack. But I am headed to bed soon. Plenty of time to pack tomorrow and I’m usually pretty quick at packing, especially for a quick and warm weekend, as we go to the river so often. The sad thing is that I have to drop Lucy at the kennel tomorrow because we can’t take her with us and I am utterly depressed at the thought.

Speaking of Lucy…here are her updates (quicker than mine, I promise, I’ll post mine tomorrow and respond to comments):

1 – She is losing her baby teeth. And M & E wanted to leave them in her crate to see if the tooth fairy would bring her anything – and of course, in this house, the TF only delivers to humans. So the next night, M & E left 2 dog treats in her crate and took out the 2 teeth they found. How cute is that? (what was not cute was their need to show me the teeth)

In case you are wondering, Lucy sleeps in her crate which is right next to my side of the bed…which brings me to update #2

2 – We couldn’t find Lucy tonight around 9:15 or so, and looked upstairs and downstairs…then I opened E’s door to find her on the floor asleep with Lucy laying next to her. E snuck Lucy in her room when we weren’t looking for a slumber party. Too cute.

But the funniest is…
3 - M & E asked if they could dress up Lucy this evening. We said ok, but if she wants out, you have to let her go. They were so proud of themselves and called hubby & me to come down for the Lucy fashion show. See below. (Skirt by Cinderella, belt from E, top by Snow White, Fairy Wings, and veil by Ariel. Sorry, no Polyvore set.)

Hubby took pic, Lucy’s looking at me because I’m the only one for whom she’ll stand still. Good puppy! I promise I’ll take all that off… just one more picture…

I'm sorry to hear you have to leave Lucy at a kennel for the weekend but I'm sure she'll be just fine. She'll probably have fun playing with other dogs.

Your children are so cute - being Lucy's little tooth fairy, sneaking her in to sleep next to, and of course the dressing her up is just about the cutest thing! I remember trying to dress up our dogs and cats we had when I was a kid. Lucy looks much happier than mine ever did.

I hope you have a great vacation this weekend! I'll look forward to some fabulous pictures when you return.

I also hope that your cold goes away very soon!

wow that pink belt looks so good with her dark fur and the skirt is just the right length! (Before I read the narrative, I thought Lucy had gotten into a big pile of plastic bags....guess that's why I am not a dog fashion designer).

Your kids are too sweet for words! You had me at the tooth fairy bit, but the impromptu sleepover -- too much! So sweet! (And Lucy's ensemble is magnifique! Della was once similarly attired, but in boys' clothes. Slightly less cute!) :)

haha that is too cute! the dog I had growing up was (is) a yorkie-poo. She's 14 (!) now but when she was younger, we'd dress her up in all kinds of stuff. Our favorite thing to do was put hats and sunglasses on her, then watch her try to take them off. We really were cruel to her! But I think she secretly loved the attention :)

Where in NC are you going? I'd say prepare to be HOT (unless you're going to the mountains) but i'm sure you're experiencing your fair share of heat in your neck of the woods! Have a great trip! :)

This is funny... I was scrolling through your blog when my husband happened to look over and said, "what happened to that poor dog?"

Enjoy your vacation... Your puppy will be just fine...

Summerilla - she will be fine, I'll just be a mess. Lucy did tolerate the dress up pretty well, I was impressed. Good doggie! I think I am getting better, thanks for asking!

C - striking resemblance to a pile of plastic bags, yes. Most of the pieces are the Lillian Vernon Disney Princess dress up set - that are really too small for E, but seem to fit Lucy perfectly, poor thing. :)

Lady Buttons - I have a feeling this won't be Lucy's last ensemble. I will draw the line at the white furry cat costume however.

AppGal - I don't think Lucy liked the clothes, but she does love the kids so much. We are headed to Siler City (halfway between Raleigh and Greensboro on 64). I have packed mostly sundresses and sandals. And thank you, I am a bit better today.

Lissa - I think that's exactly what my husband was thinking.

Just the laugh I needed this morning! Thanks for sharing those precious photos! :D

E and M are, I shall echo what the others have said, too cute and utterly sweet. Lucy is oh-so-LUCkY to have such a loving family. :)

The first time I ever left my Stretch and Eddie at the kennel when I went out of town, I was a buncha nerves. The very kind front desk staff tried very hard to keep in me and my tears in check. The doggies were more excited for their adventures!

I hope you're feeling better, and enjoy yourselves in NC! 'Will miss you!

Lucy is a kick and a half. I propose that the DC Area JCAers who hae puppies (seems like quite a few do) meet for a Puppy Play Date -- puppies in tow -- sometime. That would be fun and I know my little guy wold LOVE to meet some other pups. Anyone game for that?

Gigi, Starfishes and Sundresses, ashley, & Emily and - thanks, glad it made you smile!

Drewablank - thanks. I know she will be fine - it's me who has the issues. I was trying to rush out of the office as quick as I could so I wouldn't cry in front of them. She's my shadow.

AnneG - love the idea. now that we've has some of the mini-Aficionadas together, we can get the canine Aficionadas/os together. Lucy loves all dogs - everyone is her friend...or so she thinks!

I think M & E need to start their own line of fashion dog clothes!

I bet lucy was loving all the attention she was getting though!
