Wearing Today with New J Crew Fireball Charm Necklace

My third day of lunches with friends in a row. Not sure how I managed this, but it has certainly been a nice treat, and it's been so fun to catch up with everyone. Lucy was thrilled with Day 1 since that involved a puppy playdate, but not so excited about yesterday or today, since that involved crate time - but she got a nice nap in both times.

My friend, Laura (of the leopard patent Dansko clogs fame), and I try to go to Wine Harvest for a nice little lunch with a glass of wine every so often - most notably on the 1st day of school each year and right around the last day of school.

Here's the Polyvore of what I was planning (hoping) to wear today:

But when I woke up, it was gray and rainy. And even though it wasn't that cold outside, it felt chilly inside (and it's always chilly inside Wine Harvest because of the wine, duh, and you know I'm always cold anyway). So my J Crew Beaded Shore Tunic just wouldn't cut it, which is too bad, since I haven't had a chance to wear it yet and it, yikes, still has tags. But I definitely have this outfit in reserve.

Since I wasn't going with the cute breezy tunic, I decided I really should wear a new JC purchase...but wanted to be warm, so I opted for the Fireball Charm Necklace (#14649 ,$55, $41 with the crew-pon). My oh my, it is sparkly. And, unlike my beloved Twisted Crystal Necklace, this isn't going to snag anything.

And check out the jeans...Not Chicos! These are my pair of Lilly Pulitzer jeans that I haven't worn in a year and a half...practically since I bought them because they didn't fit. Nice to change it up. Funny store about these - I was doing my annual Tysons outing with my mom & sister and my sister was trying on a slew of high end designer jeans at Bloomingdales, since their 25% F&F worked on jeans. Their jeans specialist was really trying to help me as well as my sister. So I tried on a ton of them, and finally found 1 pair that was "just ok". The others were horrid. So I decided $200 was too much money to spend on just ok, and went browsing around. Spotted the Lilly jeans in the LP section, tried on, and they fit a million times better than any of the high end jeans. And were on a 50% sale rack with 25% off, so they were about $50. The fact that I haven't worn them in 18 months is stinky, but I am happy to have them back in the rotation.

And then, long sleeve white tee, navy short sleeve cardi (yes, a repeat, but it works), and then a pink scarf for warmth/color. And check out the umbrella. Apparently I not only drank the Crew-lade, I fell right in and swam around for a while, because I did buy an umbrella with my crewpon, on sale for $19.99, so final price = $15. But seriously, I love these colors! A good way to brighten up a cloudy rainy day, for sure. Pink, navy, white, yellow, cerise. All yummy!!

Here's the Polyvore of what I actually wore today:

Yea! Fireball charm necklace I bought this with the Mickey card too.
You look so cute for a rainy day, I'm hoping for better weather for this weekend but the forecast doesn't look too good.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Don't you just love the fireball necklace? I too purchased it with my Red Card...totally worth it! It goes with so much and adds just the right amount of pizzaz to an outfit :)

ashley - thank you!

Summerilla - we need to do a line by line comparison of Mickey card purchases, I think! But, ugh, I don't think the weather's supposed to be great - I just hope we get through E's 8 am soccer game tomorrow.

GingerSnap - you too? I agree, it is a good price, and does add the right amount of pizazz.

Kate - we really cleared those out, didn't we? I do think $15 isn't bad for the umbrella - it's so darn cute, and they have so many great patterns.

Alexandra - thank you! My B&M seemed to have quite a few umbrellas in the sale section.

mrs.anketell - thank you! I was so excited at how well they fit this morning!!

Lovely outfit!! And I'm very happy to see that you polyvored yourself some wine!! (;

I was with you in spirit w/my Crewlade inspired umbrella. We have rain, too.

Thanks for mentioning the twisted crystal necklace in this post & the fact that it snags. It's my most recent didn'tget/gottahave. It's so pretty, but I can live without it.

PBP - yes I did PV myself some wine, and then had IRL at lunch. Just 1 glass, though - kiddies were coming home from school in 2 1/2 hours!!

Gigi - oh shoot! Totally meant to give you credit and link to that post of yours for inspiring me with the umbrella. Sorry!! Maybe 1 glass at lunch was too much!! The twisted crystal necklace - love it, but it is a bummer with the snagging factor because it looks so good with sweaters! Sometimes I just decided to do it and de-pill later. If I knew then... I may not have gotten it, and looked for something else instead.

I love how your whole outfit matched your umbrella! Very chic! And great news about the LP jeans! I am all about re-discovering "old" items in my closet that I forget I have. :p

Maybe it was a blessing that it rained...or how else would you ever have the chance to show off how you can put together a fantastic getup so quickly and with flying colors? ;)

I have to say when I saw the umbrella and the scarf, I thought, "where is Heidi going with those?" Because, and I am sure you know this, I was dying it was so hot today. To top it off we had very little rain. So I smiled real big when I saw you in this outfit! (Did you take the scarf off at all or did your cold-blooded nature win?)

You look DARLING, though. I love all the color and the whimsy!!! :)

Great colors. You look great Heidi! The umbrella and necklace are wonderful buys. The necklace looks very similar to the Taj Mahal crystal ball one I have from winter except I think the fireball is more of a pinkish tone - very pretty.

No worries. I didn't invent the umbrella. *lol* Or create your cute outfit. That's all you. :-)

I love the fun color combination! I never remember to use scarves, and they add so much to an outfit. I used to have LP jeans too that I loved. Great umbrella, I would have bought it too if I'd seen it in my store! Hope lunch was fun!!

Patina - yes, love the treasures in our closets - particularly when they fit!!

Drewablank - thank you!! and excellent point about the blessing of the rain, and now I have an instant outfit for a day that really is 70 degrees and not rainy.

Dina - yes, I bet you were wondering and I bet you were roasting. It was so warm & muggy outside! I think I finally took off the scarf around 3:30 when it brightened & warmed up. Thank you, dear!

Lissa - thank you. A fun umbrella does brighten up a gray day.

Anon@10:32 - thank you, good to know. I have made such habit of cuffing or rolling my pants for so long that it's just become the me thing to do, and it's rubbed off on others. But I do try to wear my pants regular/long sometimes.

ABiggerCloset - thank you!! You are right, the fireball is pinkish.

Stephanie - thank you! Lunch was fun. It's funny you mention the scarves for color. I agree they do add color, but I usually start with the idea to add one for warmth... then try to find one in a color that works with the outfit.

sparrowsandsparkles - thank you! And I borrowed the Crew-lade term from Gigi - she's the genius behind the crew-lingo.

KatyO - thank you! Can't wait to see your umbrella - they did have some really cute prints!

I love all of Saturday's outfits! You're a superchic mommy. I want to be just like you when I'm a mom:). The white tunic looks fab on you. I also liked how you wear your navy femme with white jeans - I'll have to try that combo. Love the umbrella, BTW. Finally, the beechwood Michelle looks great with white top & pants. I recently bought the weathered stone Georgia cardi which is kinda sorta similar, and I may try it with white too.

Hope you had a good weekend! Wish the rain would stop already...
