You May Be Right...I May Be Crazy...

Yes, today, I wore white jeans... on a rainy day... with a puppy. (But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for...) Ok, I'll stop quoting Billy Joel songs. So here's the thing, you know I just recently ordered the J Crew chunky star cable popover sweater. And ohhhh, it's so soft (by now, you all know how tactile I am). So I was kinda waiting for a chilly, rainy spring day to try it out. And dark jeans just looked too winter-y with it.
So I'm not going to complain about the rain. I got so much gardening done this weekend in the beautiful weather we had. Would much prefer the rain today... And I got to wear the new sweater. Oh yeah, I do have a 17-week-old Labradoodle puppy...in the rain and the mud. Well, what can I say. The sweater was fabulous. And the white jeans made it until 4:00, so 7 hours of wear. And it actually wasn't muddy paws that did me in, it was some tummy dirt - didn't dry her off well enough. My bad. Jeans have been sprayed with Shout and are sitting in the washer soaking. They'll be fine.

So as I got dressed, I realized how many different accessories would work with the sweater. Oooh, this is going to be fun, come fall! It shows off bracelets really well, but I opted for no bracelets since I was up at school volunteering in kids' classes this morning. And quite a few of the chunky necklaces worked too, including the Erickson Beamon bubble necklace. But I chose a gold and pearl chunky necklace, detail at the right. It was actually my grandmother's (my mom's mom, who passed away this fall). The value is sentimental, not monetary. It works really well layered with the J Crew twisted crystal necklace. The full story is that after my grandmother passed away, my mom put together some of her costume jewelry for E to use for dress-up, and I actually swiped a few necklaces from the stash that are fun (like the turquoise beads I wear).

Polyvore for today:

And wet dog pic for the day: (BTW, she doesn't get to hang out on the bathroom rug anymore because today Lucy discovered the fun contained in a roll of toilet paper. Yeah... that was entertaining. One more door to keep closed.

Gosh, that is funny about the dog! Ours also chewed the t.p. She is now happy with just the empty roll. Also, we have a Westie and it takes a bit more work on her part to get it. You looked great today.

not much poodle in that dog because my mini poodle's hair gets all curly and matted in the rain :( He NEVER goes in the bathroom and cannot go upstairs (dogs and rugs- not good)...and you are a fashionista because when I take him out, I wear dark gray sweatpants!

I love your look. I think pairing white pants is a great way to transition our "winter top/sweaters/cardigans into the spring. You look beautiful. I love the necklace and do you know, I was going through some old jewelry and came across a pearl necklace that belonged to my aunt. The pearls have yellowed, but I still love the look of them. I wore them today and thought of all the wonderful memories I shared with her when she was alive. I had my time with alex today. He takes off running as soon as he gets into the house before I can dry him off!!! UGH!!! but i love him (smile)

Haha, I love that you have yet another door to keep closed. My Yorkie is not tall enough to reach the TP, but she does sneak over to the side tables and grab tissues! or sometimes she will even pilfer the trash in the bathroom to get at some tissue...she is soooo bbaaad. Heaven forbid I get a cold, because there is enough chewed up tissue to look like it snowed in my room! But don't you love them?

Kathy - thank you! Yeah, Lucy has fished out the empty roll from the trash, and the lint from the laundry room trash. That was fun to pull out of her mouth, ick!

C - She looks more lab than poodle, but I see the poodle in her face and the way in her fur. And her ears are growing and the hair that hangs down is really kinky/curly - it's so cute - like a baby's curls. Well, I did go with rainboots when I took her for our afternoon walk. But I was definitely determined to wear the sweater today!

Patina - thank you! I love white jeans and have decided to just go for it and wear them when I feel like it, realizing that if I have "somewhere" to be, I'll wait until last minute to put them on. Plus I have a double for each of my 2 styles of white jeans. Oh, and I usually tackle Lucy with a full-size towel when it's raining.

GingerSnap - yes, love them so much. but the chewed up tissue - I can imagine. (btw, kids loved the clip of Charlotte cooing for toys on her cat condo). Tonight, she also ran by the table, and literally snatched a mouthful of hubby's napkin. It was hilarious - he held it up so we could see the perfect half-circle that had been removed!!

Ashley - thank you! The sweater is just insanely comfortable. I have a feeling I'll be wearing it weekly next fall/winter!

Have that sweater too, but it looks better on you!

I love the look of the white jeans/cords with wintery sweaters. :) Your sweater and necklace are so pretty together. Be careful with wearing the twisted crystal necklace with the sweater though. It tends to stick to knits and may cause pilling or small pulls. I noticed it did that on one of my cashmere sweaters. :( It's a beautiful necklace but not well designed with all those prongs that catch on anything except smooth tees. :)

You brave one w/the white jeans. I am inspired! I rarely wear white jeans because they are so precious, but now I will think of you and put my on.

I love that sweater on you!

Okay, funny (but totally gross) story about a friend's cat: He doesn't love nice, fresh TP. Rather, he learned how to open the trashcan (yes, even one with a lid), and would drag used tissues around the house. She finally had to put the trashcan with a heavy stack of magazines on top in the bathroom closet with the door *locked* to keep him away. And if you make the mistake of forgetting to lock it...

haha, I will now have that song stuck in my head all day--thanks a lot! :) i love billy joel. the sweater looks fantastic on you...i'm glad you were finally able to snag one at such a great price!

LulaMae - thank you, but I'm sure you look totally fab in yours, too!

ABiggerCloset - Thanks for the advice - I know what you mean about the twisted crystal - it's such a bummer because it's so pretty. Sometimes I will just decide to go for it and deal later, like for dinner out - realizing I'll be going at my sweater with a shaver the next morning. But definitely wouldn't do that with this sweater b/c I think the pulls would be too big.

Gigi - I know exactly what you mean - I started wearing white jeans about 3 years ago or so (and I realize now that I didn't before since I had a dog and then babies, so it was safer to wait until they were 3+). I really think they make everything look better (even the hot mess tank top that looked like maternity on you and fit me in an XS - no wonder that thing was so huge on you!!)

KatyO - thank you, and that's hilarious!! Lucy's not quite that inventive...yet.

AppGal - thank you and sorry! Put some cheesy lyrics on your blog and we can torture each other. ;)

Cute outfit! Congrats on the sweater--that is perfect!
I really like how you added the pink wellies to the outfit in the polyvore set...that would look too adorable!

You look beautiful, Heidi! I just love the look of white jeans or pants...they really *brighten* up everything you wear with them.

Btw...I wanted to share with you that Target has a SUPERCUTE pair of plaid Bermuda shorts that match our Bon Voyage tee EXACTLY! I will try to post pics on my blog of them this week, but your Target should have them, too. I like them better than the ON pair I put in my Polyvore set. Here is the link, and of course you have to know that they look SO much better IRL. ;) Merona Plaid Bermuda Shorts .

Have a great afternoon! :)

luvallthingsjcrew - actually, the pink wellies weren't just a prop - I wore them to walk the dog in the pouring rain. Of course, mine are about 4 years old and not quite and shiny, but they do the job.

FFM - thanks so much for the info on the Target shorts - i will check them out!!

Heidi, love that sweater. Looks super cozy and soft to me. Great purchase! Thank you for bringing my attention to F21 jewelry, I stopped by Lakeforest MAll, but store had nothing interesting. Might drop by Montgomery to look for the rings you have posted about.

Slastena - thank you! (and oh, it is so cozy!). Bummer about the Lake Forest F21 - I haven't been in there in a while. Good luck at Montgomery - that was the on I went to. I was actually thinking about you (and your fab Erickson Beamon Target ring) when I was in there looking through the bowl o' rings. :)
