Update from DC JCA Event and My 1st Polyvore

Wow, what can I say about the DC JCA Event that 3-Penny Princess arranged? It was so lovely. So fantastic to meet all these fabulous J Crew Aficionadas! 3-Penny Princess posted some great pics, and so did Dinagideon, so check them out if you haven't already. Also check out 3-Penny Princess' post with everyone's Polyvores - and keep checking because she keeps adding!

The Private Shopping Event at the Pentagon City was just amazing. I felt pampered, I felt spoiled, loved loved loved it!! The refreshments were divine - I felt so galm strolling around the store with a mimosa in hand. The sales associates were great - especially Joanne - who was a total doll (literally, she is a size 0, so cute & stylish) and so helpful. More on my purchases later - not sure whether to Polyvore (see note on Polyvore below) or do IRLs and I still have to go through them all. Plus kids are home today and not as much time to post, you know?

I did try on the infamous "hot mess tank top" (see Gigi's post on the tank here) and now I understand the problem. Hellooooo, the XS fit me! And I have to say, I likey! Yes, I said XS. I didn't get it yesterday, but am definitely keeping my eye on it for a future purchase. Definitely too sheer without tank/cami underneath. But would be just a great spring/summer tops with jeans/slacks by itself or under a jacket. But seriously, again, the XS fit me, at 5'10" and a size 10? What were they thinking?

Back to our outing... we had brunch at the Boulvard Wood Grill. In general, I just love brunch. Yummy drinks, yummy food. Eggs Benedict Florentine - yum-yum! (with spinach subbed for the Canadian bacon, you can pretend that it's really, really healthy). And 3-Penny's recommendation for the Grand Mimosa (mimosa with some Grand Marnier) - wow, such a fun little cocktail - glad I had the metro ride home before I got my car.

I *finally* dove in to Polyvore this morning. I've been wanting to, but was postponing until the closet was 100% done. Well, the closet's about 95%, but it was time. Here is a Polyvore of my outfit.

Yes, it looks familiar because it is pretty much the outfit from this post, with some modifications accessory- and makeup-wise. What can I say? The Lili cardi is my frilliest J Crew piece. And I've been dying to wear my white jeans again, which aren't at all puppy friendly on rainy days. As soon as I got home I had a muddy paw print on 1 leg. So bye-bye pretty outfit, jeans to the wash, and hello sweats for the rest of the evening. Not that I'm complaining, because a great way to end such a fabulous day is hanging out with the family with a puppy in my lap.

So I can't wait to play with all my purchases, and I'm sure you'll be seeing quite a few of them this week. Thanks again to 3-Penny Princess for putting together this amazing event! Hope to see everyone next time...

Cool post, I still do not quite understand what polyvore is I guess....can you give me the "super-simple" explanation?

ShopDiva - thank you! I think cerise is a new fave J Crew color for me!!

GingerSnap - I will admit that Polyvore seemed a bit intimidating before I tried it, but so did blogging. For my purposes and the purposes of those I see, it's a tool for putting together sets of outfits. You load your clothes into your "items" and then create "sets". I did get some info on it from Slastena on the ride down to Pentagon City, but it really isn't complicated. So much has been loaded by so many people, that many/most of your clothes are already in there - you can just do a search and then click on the item to have the option to "load into my items". To create a set, you are just pulling things from your items and arranging, re-sizing, etc. It's like the digital, grown-up version of paper dolls. HTH. I think the best way to figure it out is just to get in and start playing. Warning - it is a total time-suck. Of course, so is blogging, right? :) HTH!

Oh Heidi, you look so GORGEOUS in the pics! I'm really glad you had such a fantastic time, too! I saw on Polyvore that you picked up the Navy Atelier...very, very nice...I hope you keep it. ;) Have a wonderful evening.

Great to see shopaholicdiva and now you on Polyvore...Welcome to the forum, I look forward to seeing more! While it's great to demonstrate an outfit you're wearing in real life, it's also fun to try new things and test them out before you decide to purchase them. I also enjoy it for keeping track of what's in my own closet.

FFM - thank you! yes, I did get the navy atelier - and that one is a definite keeper - I really need a "nice" spring/summer jacket that's not outerwear. I am looking forward to a lot of wear!

itztru - thank you! Wow, polyvore is fun. I can see how it would be great for tracking your own closet and trying out new items and new combos. I also really enjoy it so that I can see some of the details that the IRL pics miss - like the jewelry.

It was great to finally meet you, HeidiG! You looked so radiant in your bright cerise cardigan!

I'm just sorry we didn't have enough time to talk - hopefully at the next J.Crew event! :)

I'm so glad you had so much fun! It sounded like a blast. You looked really good in the Lili. That color is totally for you. Can't wait to see what else you got in addition to the atelier. Very cool!

Drewablank - thank you - yes, I feel like I barely got to say hello (we were all so focused on the shopping), and then you were at the other end of the brunch table. But you sure did look sassy in your skirt - loved it!

Gigi - thank you - yes I am loving the cerise - which I'd "discovered" this color sooner. It was great fun on Sunday. I will be posting on my purchases this week.
